Transport Co-Ordinator - Shropham

We are currently seeking a Transport Co-Ordinator based at our Head Office in Shropham, Norfolk, to oversee the daily logistical movements for the haulage fleet which operates nationally.

Duties will typically include:

  • Route planning.
  • Checking lorry movements via a tracking system.
  • Liaising with drivers, internal staff, customers and external contractors.
  • Downloading Tachos.
  • Driving licence checks.

Knowledge / skills required:

  • Previous logistics or fleet management background.
  • Plant hire experience.
  • Tacograph knowledge.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbally as a large majority of our business is conducted by telephone.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in an often pressurised environment.
  • Comfortable working on own initiative.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise work.

This role is full time, working 08.00 – 17.30 Monday to Friday (45 hours per week) with Saturday mornings on a rota basis working one week out of four or five.

Groundworker/Dewatering Site Operative - Shropham


Stuart Wells Limited are looking to recruit a site operate to install, maintain and operate dewatering systems on civil engineering sites. This is a full-time, permanent position, working for principal contractors throughout the UK, and will involve working away from home for periods.

Knowledge of dewatering, pumps and generators, together with any related experience, such as groundworking or temporary works would be of major benefit to this role. This position involves outside work on construction sites, and therefore a person with limited specific experience, but comfortable with site working would also be considered. A good nature, and the ability to work as part of a team are essential, as is a CSCS card, which is a prerequisite for this position.

The rate of pay for the successful applicant is negotiable, depending upon experience. Benefits include a company van, mobile, 20 days holiday per year, and private health care and contributory Pension Scheme after a 6 month qualifying period.

Geotechnical Engineer / Engineering Geologist - Shropham


Stuart Wells are a leading and experienced specialist groundwater control and borehole testing company working within the UK construction and geotechnical industry.

The successful candidate will become part of a successful groundwater testing team undertaking services, such as pumping and packer tests, geophysical logging, permeability tests, water supply wells and borehole decommissioning to a range of clients. With involvement in the design and delivery of dewatering projects.

You will be involved from tender submission, with interpretation of soil information to civil or site investigation works specifications. Development of proposals and quotations with client liaison, leading to contract award and subsequent project management. This will include undertaking of groundwater testing services on site, with calibration and maintenance of testing equipment. Data collection and management and subsequent submission of reports (word, excel, pdf and or AGS format).

The role will be varied and involves UK site contract management as well as office-based duties and remote working. It is a rewarding role and offers the opportunity to develop technical and commercial skills.

MAIN DUTIES (not limited to)

  • Tender submission – involving data processing and interpretation of specifications and SI information.
  • Project Management & undertaking geophysical and groundwater testing services on site.
  • Data management & Report Writing.
  • Geotechnical and pumping equipment management oversight, with calibration and service.
  • Business development - generating contract leads and establishing new business opportunities.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Hydrogeology/ Geotechnical or related background.
  • Experience in providing groundwater testing or groundwater engineering services and/or experience in SI or geophysical industry.
  • Commercial/Subcontracting awareness.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and accurately verbally and in written format
  • Ability to learn quickly and work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Be professional in your approach with the ability to liaise at all levels.
  • Good generic IT skills, experience in borehole logging and AGS software would be desirable.
  • Full, clean driving licence essential

Due to business growth we are actively seeking to expand our Generator installation team with the addition of a Trainee Project Engineer.

The suitable applicant will be from a Mechanical / Electrical Engineering background and we are interested equally, in hearing from applicants currently in a ‘hands-on-tools’ role looking for the next stage in their career, as well as applicants already working in a similar office based environment or role.

The suitable applicant will be punctual, have a methodical approach and be capable of working to deadlines.

Knowledge or experience working with diesel driven power generators and the associated systems ie. Fuel storage, fuel transfer systems, exhaust and ventilation systems and electrical cabling installation will be advantageous.

Task specific training and support will be given in order for the successful candidate to carry out the role as expected.

Reporting to the Project Manager your main responsibilities will be as follows:

  • Site visits to determine customer requirements.
  • Provide estimates, quotations and tender bids to customer requirements including provision of supporting documentation.
  • Engagement with clients and stakeholders through Project lifecycle.
  • Method Statements and Risk Assessments.
  • Use of CAD software to review and amend technical drawings.
  • Procurement and allocation of materials to Engineering team on and off site.
  • Processing orders, invoicing and applications for payment.

Working Hours:

  • Monday to Friday, 42.5 hrs / week.

This role involves being responsible for overseeing all Engineers, Drivers and Yard Operatives at the depot and the checking and control of paperwork between depots whilst fulfilling our excellent service standards at all times.
